The Vesperi Origin
In a world increasingly driven by the disposable and the temporary, I found myself searching for something permanent. As my own family grew, I began to truly appreciate the rare items that aren't just consumed, but inherited.
I noticed that the objects people cherish most — like a grandfather's well-worn leather wallet — are rarely valued for their original price tag. They are treasured for the stories they carry. Leather, when crafted correctly, is one of the few materials that doesn't degrade with time; it simply accrues character.
That realisation sparked a dedication to the art of traditional leathercraft, and in 2020, this workshop was born — now in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, UK.
Northamptonshire has a long and living tradition of leather craftsmanship — a county famous for its shoemakers and leather workers for centuries. That heritage runs through every piece I make. When you hold something made here, you're holding work from a place where the craft has been practiced for generations.
I chose the name Vesperi — the Latin word for 'evening'. In the early days of this journey, balancing a career and a family meant the only time I could dedicate to honing my craft was after the sun had set and the house had grown quiet. Those evening hours became the foundation of the brand's uncompromising attention to detail.
Today, every piece that leaves my workbench is designed with a singular purpose: to endure.
When you invest in a Vesperi product, you are not just acquiring a wallet or a belt — you are acquiring a blank canvas. Through days, years, and decades of use, the full-grain leather will develop a rich, unique patina — a physical record of a life well-lived, ready to be passed down as a meaningful heirloom.
Beyond the workbench, my passion extends to all facets of thoughtful design, handmade craftsmanship, and product design. I invite you to follow the process and the daily life of the workshop on our social channels, where I am always happy to connect and discuss the finer details of the craft.
Warmly,
Jarek Kus — Founder & Craftsman, Vesperi
